ピンポンがなんない - きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ

Do you detect a theme? It's the fifth track on Moshi Moshi Harajuku.

Realized it the other night at the airport that I could understand way more of this song than I assumed I could. Just goes to show what you can accomplish if you try. Anyways, once I listened to the words, yeah...I really fell in love with this song, especially the chorus. I think lots of people can relate, guys and girls alike. Even though (in some cases), you know it's just you being emo, you still get that feeling? This song really nails it. And I love the metaphor of the bubbling stew... I think Japanese stews do the best job of making "chunky" veggies etc, so it's really picturesque in a way. I dunno, yeah. ちょっと感動しちゃった。lol Anyways, enjoy :P

Japanese lyrics here.

The Chime Won't Ring [1]

It's not always like this

but now and then I get this feeling

Heavy bag slung over my shoulder [2]

I pedal my bike up the hill

Get out the big ladel

and continue with various prepwork

I'm waiting for you to get back,

but the chime just doesn't go off

The bubbling stew is cooking

with lots of chunky ingredients

You can't tell at a glance

I put a lot of heart into this so it'll be good

Beep boop I send you mail

but there's no reply at all

I'm fickle, so please, before my feelings for you eventually cool off

come home (the chime won't ring)

come home (the chime won't ring)

Cabbage carrots flour

potatoes onions parsley

butter milk mushrooms

What else should I put in?

Soup, wine, salt 'n pepper

Don't forget the bacon!

I'm waiting for you to get back,

but the chime just doesn't go off

The bubbling stew is cooking

with lots of chunky ingredients

You can't tell at a glance

I put a lot of heart into this so it'll be good

Beep boop I send you mail

but there's no reply at all

I'm fickle, so please, before my feelings for you eventually cool off

come home (the chime won't ring)

come home (the chime won't ring)

Notes:

[1] "doesn't" just seemed clunky. Although I used it in the verses. Makes sense to me, I dunno.

[2] There is no literal mention of a shoulder, but I didn't want to say generic "Carrying a heavy bag" and more times than not if the bag is heavy it seems like unless you have a rack you would sling it over your shoulder. Artistic liberty, beep boop.
